Funny you should mention it. When we first started working with this layout, I liked the general concept, but I was pretty sure that I wanted to tone down some of the colors and change the headline font. That font is created using an interesting technology called sifr in which one creates a little flash executable to which one hands the text to be rendered. This allows using fonts not installed on the viewing machine. So, I rushed off and got the tool to make different executables, but I couldn't seem to get any enthusiasm from John or Jurjen about any of the alternatives I proposed. Eventually I got used to the color scheme and decided it could stay and gave up on the font. When my wife reviewed the site ... she's an artist, not a developer, although she has sold software for 20 years ... one of the things that she commented on particularly was how much she liked that font, particularly in combination with the rigidity of the logo.
Yes I would like to change it into something less wide and easier to decypher. But Thomas, I never got your alternatives. Did you find any interesting samples? I know I am not creative, so if I pick a font it will probably be a boring one....

The headline fonts use a technology called sifr in which a font is
embedded in a flash module and the text to be displayed is given to
the flash module as an argument. This allows displaying fonts which
are not loaded into the viewing machine. I made a set of samples at
semi random which I will send you again. If you just click on the
.swf file, you will see the words "Please pass in your text" as the
default display.

Awe, gee, and I was growing fond of that goofy font. :)
Yah, as much as I get a kick out of it, it should be changed. I'll leave that for Jurjen though - I haven't fiddled with the template stuff at all.
Funny font

The new font looks a lot
The new font looks a lot better.
Blech
So boring...
Yes, I thought the other one was funny looking, but there are so many interesting fonts and this one is so boring.
