There are many websites where individuals are publishing their Progress related material, but they are sometimes hard to locate and we are convinced that these materials deserve a better audience. The Hive has rich tools and servers for everyone to use. You are welcome to add your blogs, whitepapers, products, source code examples, utilities and projects on The Hive.

The Hive is about hosting Open Source projects.
The site has all the facilities you need to host an open source project: source code control, forums, uploads, mailing lists, books, issue trackers. The advantage over Sourceforge for a project initiator is that every visitor is a Progress user, so it is much more likely to receive feedback and contributions. The advantage for visitors is that you can shop for many Progress projects in one place.

Prolint - tablename rule for class method parameters not working

I am having a class with method and that method is having 2 input parameters assigning to some other local vars.

Using Prolint I am generating ouput for the same class and output is showing warning like "inpt1 must be qualified with table name" and same for the 2nd input parameter for the line number where I am assigning it to other local vars.

But the same is working for procedure file having input parameters, no warning in the output page.

Please suggest

Table Block Mapping For Type I Areas

Many people know of the perils of record scatter and fragmentation with Type I areas. This tool provides an easy way to determine how scattered your data is and present that information in an easy to view HTML format. Primarily I use this tool to explain to non technical clients and managers why we need to migrate data from Type I to Type II areas.

You specify which tables are to be mapped by passing which areas or tables to the tool. CAN-DO style lists are supported in order to easily exclude larger tables from the list.

I try to use the newest version of Prolint which uses ActiveX. And cannot get it working with MSCOMCTL.OCX.
I need to know if anybody got it working on OpenEdgee is in 11.5.

Creating a forum

A Project is not required for creating a Forum.

All the forums on oehive presently are Organic Group forums. Anybody can create an OG. It looks like I can also create a standalone Forum, but I don't know what that would mean with regard to notifications and content etc, because all the other content on oehve belongs to a specific forum.

I think it's supposed to be possible to add multiple OG Forums for one OG, but I haven't seen in the menus how to do that.

Running Prolint - error 6087

Hi,
I am at the setup stage of running Prolint 74 in OpenEdge Developer Studio (Open Edge 11.5 - 64 bit).
Proparse.net loads properly.
The Prolint screen starts. When I add files to be tested and press OK the error 6087 is displayed when it hits the procedure control-load in prolint/outputhandlers/logwin.w.

Starting new with a company and working performance issue. Been awhile since I did any DBA stuff. Anyway just some existing db spec:

db size in 12GB on disk
BI size is 13GB on disk
lg size is 7GB on disk - lg born Oct 18 2011
Before-Image Cluster Size: 524288
Before-Image Block Size: 8192

I don't see any BI Truncate lg entries

Online backup only - with the history of the BI file should I expect backup performance issues due to: BI size, BI Cluster size, BI never truncated, all of the above or more?

Email notifications, March 2015

My apologies to everyone who has been receiving email notifications for old posts on oehive. I found and fixed a very old issue with the web site, and that released a backlog of notifications. I disabled email notifications as soon as I noticed what was happening, but not before a lot of emails went out!

does not fit in parent DIALOG-BOX Dialog-Frame

I'm not sure if it happens only to me, but I'm getting (6491) warning when I start Settings and Manage Queries. So I increased the heights of those two dialogs by one pixel (379 to 380 and 349 to 350) and it is all fine now.
